Paralytic ileus is a condition where the intestine becomes paralysed in absence of any mechanical obstruction. The common causes are intra-abdominal surgery, severe metabolic problems and drugs. Many anticancer drugs targeted therapy important this toxicity. Early diagnosis appropriate management essential because if prolonged untreated it can lead to death same way as acute Capecitabine an orally administered prodrug 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) routinely used breast colorectal cancer. rare but recognised serious side-effect oral capecitabine. Here, we present case 53-year-old male patient who was postoperative colon cancer treated by adjuvant capecitabine based chemotherapy subsequently developed induced paralytic ileus. He managed successfully standard conservative measures avoiding unnecessary laparotomy.
